Maytag Washers And Dryers: When Searching For A New Laundry Should Buyers Consider Maytag Washers And Dryers

Maytag washers and dryers have a reputation for being dependable and offering years of service.  The company has developed many loyal customers through the years.  Many of these customers bought their first set of laundry appliances and kept that set for 20 years or more.  Thus, when it was time for replacements, the same company was the machine of choice.

Many people who grew up in the 60s and 70s remember the advertisement of the company repairman.  The dependability of Maytag washers and dryers meant that he was the loneliest guy in town.  Many owners of the machines agreed that they rarely needed repair.

Today, Maytag washers and dryers have several different models.  Washers are available in the traditional top loaders, front loading and in top loading high efficiency models.  As with practically every other brand of laundry machines, today’s appliances from the company have both fans and enemies.  It is not unusual to read a review from one person loving the new machine and another who says never buy this machine.

The least expensive Maytag washers and dryers include the traditional top loaders.  These appliances have the normal agitator in the center and a basket that performs the spin cycle.  These laundry devices use more energy and water that other appliances use.  Prices for each of these begin at just over $400.  In general, consumers who purchase these appliances like them, although there are some negative reviews.

Beginning at about $200 more than the traditional appliances with agitators, consumers can purchase Maytag washers and dryers sets that still are top loaders but use the agitatorless technology.   These appliances are energy star rated and often qualify for rebates from both power and water utilities.  According to most reviews, the machines do a good job at keeping clothing clean while saving money on both utilities.  These machines have automatic sensors for setting the water level so they offer easy operation.

The least expensive Maytag washers and dryers featuring a front loading washer begin in price at approximately $800.  These machines are also energy star rated and use less water than traditional appliances.  While many people love their front loading machines, just about as many claim to be sorry that they made the purchase.  Many owners of front loading sets complain about a foul odor developing if the door is left closed and sealed.  In addition, the machines require almost an hour to complete a wash cycle, twice as long as the top loading machine.  Owners do state that there is noticeable difference in both the electric and water bills.

At one time the company was a separate company that made its own washing machines and dryers exclusively.  Eventually the company also manufactured Magic Chef Machines.  In 2006, Whirlpool purchased the line of appliances.  Today, Whirlpool manufactures Roper, Whirlpool, Kenmore and Maytag washers and dryers.  Consumers may want to check prices on machines from all these appliance lines before making the final decision to purchase Maytag washers and dryers based on name recognition alone.
